Apex is founded on three fundamental commitments:

• Customer driven software design.  Most scientific software reflects the specific immediate needs of its creators more than the central long-term challenges of its customers. Our extensive experience in actually shipping winning software into demanding markets has forced us to develop deep listening and customer inquiry skills. We recognize that we are not, and never will be, the experts in what our customers need.
• Deep respect for science. We have a strong collective foundation in the natural sciences, as well as in computer science. We find ourselves awed at the raw possibilities now emerging in the nascent field of nanotechnology, and pragmatically humbled by the sheer volume of work to be done to realize each part of this promise. Our goal is to play our small part in enabling this transition.
• Catalyzing nanotechnology innovation. The fundamental mission of Apex is to build software tools that hasten the advancement of the state of the science in nanotechnology’s many disciplines. Our contribution to the field is the acceleration of research and development work that our software provides to our customers.
